Agricultural Itinerary

Nine Days / Eight Nights

Day 1     Arrival at Ben Gurion Airport

Reception wwith assistance. Transfer to the Hotel; Dinner and Overnight Tel Aviv

 

            

Day2     Rehovot / Beit Dagan / Neot Kdumim

After a city tour of Tel Aviv, drive south to Rehovot to visit the Agriculture Department of the Hebrew University, one of Israel’s leading agricultural R&D institution. Proceed to the Government’s Agricultural Research Organization to study some of the current developments in your field. On to Neot Kdumim, the Biblical landscapes reserve, to experience biblical period agriculture.

 

            

Day 3    Zichron / Haifa / Acre /Kibbutz

Drive along the coastal road to see Caesarea’s Roman theater, Crusader’s city and aqueduct. Ascend Mt. Carmel for a short visit to the Carmel Winery in Zichron Yaacov. Proceed to Haifa for a panoramic view of the bay, harbor and down town Haifa. Visit the marvelous gardens at the Bahai gardens and Shrine. Drive to Acre to tour the Knights halls and ancient port. Arrive to a kibbutz for dinner and overnight.

 

Day 4    Kibbutz

Spend a day on the kibbutz, a unique Israeli style of living. According to your unique interests, colleagues will host you. Topics to choose from are field crops, a large variety of fruits, dairy farms, poultry, bee keeping, fish farming, hot houses and more. In the afternoon, visit a cotton gin and an avocado-packing house. Dinner and overnight Kibbutz

 

            

Day 5    Galilee

Tour of the upper Galilee and the Sea of Galilee. Visit a factory manufacturing apple cider, as well as an open pond fish-breeding operation. Alternatively visit the National Water Carrier where gravity is used to pump water from the Sea of Galilee and directed through canals and tunnels to the southern Negev desert. In the afternoon visit the Christian sites at Capernaum, Tabgha and Mt. of Beatitudes.

Dinner and overnight Nazareth

 

            

Day 6    Arab farming / Regional processing

Visit Nazareth’s Basilica of Annunciation Drive to the Arab village of Ramah to visit farmers employing techniques identical of those thousands of years ago in olive picking, irrigation, dairy farming, and milk processing As a complete contrast you shall visit regional cooperatives using the most advanced technology of food processing, marketing, packing and storage. End your tour in one of the Kibbutz industries manufacturing equipment for irrigation.

 

 

Day 7    Jordan Valley / Dead Sea

Drive through the Jordan Valley via Beit Shean with its Roman remains and Jericho, visiting a kibbutz growing organic fruit and vegetables. Also, stop on the way to see the agriculture developed under severe arid conditions. View the Palm groves on the shores of the Dead Sea, growing in one of the saltiest soils on earth. Ascend to Jerusalem and stop by Mt of Olive to see the city’s most magnificent view. Dinner and overnight Jerusalem

 

            

Day 8    Jerusalem

Begin a walking tour of the Old City including the Via Dolorosa, Basilica of the Holy Sepulcher and the Western Wall. Stop for a visit at the Museum of the Holocaust and drive to Bethlehem for a visit to the Basilica of the Nativity. Back to Jerusalem passing by the Israeli Parliament to see the Nation’s emblem: the Seven Stick Candelabra. Dinner and overnight Jerusalem

 

            

Day 9    Departure

After breakfast transfer to the airport;
