Israel and Petra, Jordan. 9 Days

Day 1

Arrive to Israel, the Promised Holy Land         

Explore Joppa where the Prophet Jonah attempted to flee from God and the Apostle Peter had his rooftop vision. Afterwards, tour Caesarea Maritima with its Roman Theatre, Aqueduct and Crusader City. Continuing to Mt. Carmel, enter Stella Maris, the Carmelite Monastery. Then visit Nazareth, with the Basilica of the Annunciation, Joseph’s Workshop and Cana of Galilee, where the first miracle of Jesus took place.

 

Day 2

Around the Sea of Galilee

Our morning begins with a cruise on the Sea of Galilee using a wooden boat, similar to those used during the times of Christ; continue to the Mount of Beatitudes, Tabgha, and Capernaum, St. Peter’s home. In the afternoon, ascend Mount Tabor, the site of Jesus’ Transfiguration, enjoying a magnificent panoramic view of the Jezreel Valley as well as many other locations mentioned in the Bible. Day 3 

From the sons of Israel to the sons of Ammon

After visiting the Baptismal Site at the Jordan River, travel along the Jordan Valley to the border with the Kingdom of Jordan on Sheikh Hussein Bridge. Drive from Tel Aviv and Jerusalem to the border crossing procedures to enter Jordan. proceed to Jerash - city of the Decapolis,   located about 45Km North of Amman in the fertile heights of the Gilad, visit the ancient Roman city with colonnaded streets, the baths and the hill of the top Temple etc. Then drive to Amman for a city tour of the Jordanian Capital. Overnight in Amman

 

Day 4

Via the Patriarchs path to Petra

After early breakfast, leave the hotel and travel south on the road to Wadi Musa. On horseback cross the "Siq" (canyon) into Petra. The red rock city, ancient capital of the Nabateans from 3rd century B.C. to 2nd Century A.D. See the massive hand made monumental structures as the Treasury, El Khazneh (a tomb of a Nabatean king), Field of Tombs, Obelisks and the Altar, (Al Madhbah); from this point a panoramic view of the whole of the Red Rock City can be enjoyed, before returning to Wadi Musa village and drive back to Amman for overnight.

 

Day 5

Amman – Madaba – Mount Nebo – Jerusalem

Drive to Mádaba to see the ancient mosaic map of the Holyland and continue 10Kms. to Mount Nebo, from where Moses viewed the Promised Land. From there you will see the Jordan Valley, Jericho Dead Sea, etc. Drive to Allenby bridge, crossing the border into Israel; travel to Jerusalem by the Good Samaritan Inn and the village of Bethany, before entering into Jerusalem with a Triumphal Entrance ceremony conducted in front of the old city walls. Overnight Jerusalem

 

Day 6

Jerusalem’s Hills and Bethlehem

Begin on Mt. Scopus with a breathtaking view of the Holy City and then on the Mt. of Olives, visit the Place of Jesus’ Ascension and the Pater Noster grotto. Afterwards, walk down the Palm Sunday Path to the Garden of Gethsemane, stopping to visit sites representing Biblical events in the ministry of Jesus. Next, arriving at the Western (Wailing) Wall, go up to the Temple Mount. Then, visit Bethlehem’s Shepherd’s Fields and the Grotto of the Nativity. Overnight Jerusalem

 

Day 7

Jerusalem, Old and New

Starting on Mt. Zion, tour the Church of St. Peter Gallicantu, the Upper Room of the Last Supper, King David’s Tomb and Dormition Abbey. Entering the Old City via the Zion Gate, walk the Armenian, Jewish and Arab Quarters to reach the Wailing Wall. Entering the Old City via St. Stephan’s gate, reach the Pools of Bethesda and the adjacent Basilica of Santana. Then, following the Way of the Cross, arrive to the Basilica of the Holy Sepulcher. Overnight Jerusalem

 

Day 8

Jerusalem Modern city

Panoramic City Tour of Jerusalem passing by the Governmental Hill seeing the Tribunal of Supreme Justice, Ministries and the Knesset, visiting the Great 7 Stick Candelabra. Continue to the Museum of Jerusalem to see the Scaled Model of the city during Jesus days, and the nearby Shrine of the Book to see some of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Continue to the Museum of the Holocaust, main memorial monument to commemorate the horrendous human extermination conducted by the Nazi Germans during the IIWWW. In the afternoon, visit the handsome village of Ein Karem with the basilica of the Birth Place of St. John the Baptist and the nearby Chapel of the Visitation. Overnight Jerusalem

            

Day 9

Transfer to Ben Gurión Airport

Breakfast in the hotel; Transfer to the airport with assistance.
